Update 9 May 19th 2003: Dear EverestNews.com, Again,
due to still high wind (20 ~30m/sec)
above South Col this morning, Miura team has decided
to postpone the summit attempt for one more day to the
21st.
This
morning (19th), the Sherpas who were in charge of
fixing the route left C4 around 8:00 am, however they
were soon pushed back to C4 because of extremely high
wind. The wind range is not low enough to go above
South Col at moment and it is not in condition to
establish C5 at the balcony.
So, the summit team
(Yuichiro, Gota, Muraguchi) has decided to stay one more day at South Col.
The weather forecast indicates wind decreasing from 19th and we hope it will
stabilize tomorrow to proceed to C5.;
