Everest South Side Expedition
Peak Promotions

"No death on the Peak Promotion team!", is the headline of the e-mail. Despite reports in newspapers and apparently on the internet, there is no death on Peak Promotion Everest team!

In fact according to Wally Berg, John Edwin Baker, Mr. Kami Sherpa, and the rest of the team were the first to meet him at base camp. All are well and doing fine.

The reports of Kami Sherpa's death are FALSE. While the origination of these reports are unknown to EverestNews.com, clearly the reporting of deaths on Everest without confirmation is unethical, immoral, and just plain wrong.

Below is a statement EverestNews.com has received from Wally Berg...

"This is Wally Berg reporting. I've just arrived at Everest Base Camp and the first people I met were the strong and successful team from Peak Promotions, having just returned from the summit of Mt. Everest.

The team includes Kami Sherpa (24) HAS, Jantarkhani-1, Okhaldhunga, Nepal who reached the summit of Everest for the second time,   Nima Tashi Sherpa (43 Yrs), Sirdar, Khumjung-7, Solukhumbu, Nepal who made his sixth summit, Da Chhamba Sherpa (36 Yrs), HAS, Gudel-5, Solukhumbu, Nepal and Mr. John Edwin Baker (48 Yrs), a diver from Clacton-On-Sea, Essex, England, UK.

Everyone is very healthy and happy to be back at Base Camp, very proud of their accomplishment. Remarkably strong considering they've just come down from the summit a couple of days ago."
