Russian Adventure
Team from Moscow under the leadership of Alexander
Abramov will climb Everest from Tibetan side this spring
2003.
This expedition to
Everest is a part of new project "Russian Adventure
Team" aiming to do all "7 summits" as one team. It was
launched this year, when on January, 8, the team climbed
Mt. Elbrus (5642m) in very harsh weather conditions.
On February 28, Kilimanjaro (5895m) became the second
summit climbed by "Adventure Team".
And now comes Everest
(8848m). The Everest team includes 12 members, most of
them having 8-thousanders experience: Abramov
Alexander (leader, Moscow), Yakovenko Alexander
(Moscow), Pashkov Vyacheslav (Moscow), Tsaryov Igor (Irkutsk),
Kaymachnikov Sergey (Moscow), Larin Sergey (Tver),
Moskalyov Dmitry (Moscow), Soyfer Yuriy (Moscow),
Litinsky Mikhail (Moscow), Sergeev Alexander (Moscow),
Gudzhabidze Bidzina (Tbilisi, Georgia), Pushkaryov
Vladimir (Noyabrsk).
Elvira Nasonova, the
owner of snow leopard title, is very likely to join
the expedition. Should she reach the top she will set
a new record becoming the eldest Russian woman to
climb Mt. Everest. She is tuning 61 this spring. The
expedition leaves Moscow for Katmandu April, 1.
