05/22/2003: Waiting

The Tarragonan expeditions have gone down to camp 2, and they are not closing the door for a second attempt, so they left a tent with oxygen bottles and material in camp 4.  During the whole day they have been arriving by groups to camp 2 where the leader of the expedition was waiting for them.  It looks like moral is high and their physical shape is fine.  There are talks of a second attempt, but that is not for sure.  It will depend on the weather forecasts and especially on patience, let's not forget that Sir Edmund Hillary achieved the summit on a May 29, 50 years ago and today is only 21... so not everything is said.

05/23/2003: Getting ready for a second attempt

Thanks for the support of all of Tarragona, the rest of the world, His Excellency the Mayor of Tarragona, Mr. Joan Miquel Nadal, the secretary general of sports Mr. Josep Maldonado and the Honorable President of the Generalitat de Cataluña, Mr. Jordi Pujol.  We announce that the expedition of Tarragona al Sostre del Món will make a second and definitive attack to the summit of Everest, on the night between May 25 and 26.  The massive attack will involve five climbers in two groups: -Lluís Ráfols and Eloi Callado will attack without oxygen.  -Jesús Elena, Joan Carles Castellví and Joan Solé will attack with oxygen.  From base camp, Jacob Salvadó and María Castro will coordinate the attack.  Thanks for all your messages of support and encouragement.  A hug for everybody.  The Tarragona al Sostre del Món expedition.
