Current Nepal Time

May 9th 2003: Hi! The trekking, for me, started well. Rather long stages with
big storms at the beginning of the afternoon. Tomorrow evening Friday May 9th
we should sleep at Deurali at 3000m of altitude. From this place we will have
Dhaulagiri just in front of us…
I could speak with
Jean-Christophe a few moments ago. The mood was good. Yesterday, Thursday May
8th , Jean-Christophe went up with a very heavy load to camp 2 at 6800 m in
order to deposit material and food. He was too charged to carry a sleeping bag
with him and as he has a little cooled one of his feet he preferred to turn
back to sleep at camp 1 in order not to freeze the foot completely.
Today, Friday, he climbed up
to 7000 m of altitude, and then settled at camp 2 at 6800 m to spend there the
night in his sleeping bag which he carried with him from camp 1 this morning.
Tomorrow, Saturday May 10th ,
he will try to go up until around 7400 m of altitude in order to install camp
3 there. The wind is unfortunately back as from May 11th thus if that is
confirmed Jean-Christophe will turn back to base camp...
