Autumn Everest 2001: Hungarian Everest - Lhotse Expedition (2001)

All night it was drizzling or raining. Time goes by slowly on guard duty so I try to fiddle around. This wakes up Birbal sometimes and we talk about life and Tibetan girls. I'm on guard from ten to eleven. We should watch out here in Kharta- otherwise things easily get lifted. At eleven I wake up Miki with a malevolent smile and sleep till five! Breakfast then packing: 60 kg. We're delighted to see the last 10 yaks arrive around 8:30; The chieftains turn up one by one at the stonewall and we have a meeting with the leaders of the Kulszang, Cakcak, Csongde and Bersing clans. (Don't take these names for granted.) About noon the 51 yaks walk slowly through the gate; After three and a half an hour we pitch camp by the river of the Kharta Glacier at the height of 3650 meters. " A warm-up day" - I mumble while gathering constant speed towards a Team-building "Kicsi a Rakás" (The Heap is Too Small) with Konyi being at the very bottom over a pile of mats. ("Kicsi a Rakás" is a great Hungarian game in which one of the members of the team throws another one down to the ground shouting " Kicsi a Rakás". When the rest of the team hears it they hurry to the members already lying on the ground and throw themselves over the bodies. The outcome is a heap of bodies rolling on the ground. The bigger the heap is the better.) I must say goodbye because the table is being set and I must chose between dinner and typing. (Dávid)
