Autumn Everest 2001: Hungarian Everest - Lhotse Expedition (2001)

While we, hedonists, wake up on pleasant couches of ABC - God forgive: of BC - our advance party, Konyi and Miki open their eyes in 'spaltni' camp for the third morning already and glimpse the fiery sun-disk in the sky. Pilgrims start to the face. I'm sauntering in the forefront. Zoli's behind me by half an hour. He carries equipment of camp 1 in multiple rounds to a shelf in the middle of the wall. Konyi, Miki and myself reach the end of fixed line in three hours. We're at the top of Scotch Couloir, above a rocky closure. We fix 50 meters of rope, then Konyi and me climb on an uninviting shelf-system. After two pitches we run out of gear and it's getting late. We're inspecting the avalanche collector 'Big Al', which was dreaded until know, from above. I arrive to ABC after dark, where Mezõ, Zoli and Shamser wait me with some cabbage, potato and pea. It's fine. I'm paddling gratefully. (David)
