Autumn Everest 2001: Hungarian Everest - Lhotse Expedition (2001)

Konyi and Zoli finish the work essentials. In the morning, in the face of the uncertain weather, they clambered up the route made so far to the end and continued the rather discouraging work of disassembly and transport back down. I, doki, Mezo, Akos (and to some extent Birbal and Amkaming) bypass the convenience of base camp and try to make sure that the trip home will be without any shocks on the way (sea, road, overland, the air journey to Ferihegy). A good part of this consisted of looking at bits of papers and pressing buttons. Mezo in the afternoon started the wild goose chase. After that the staff did not glisten like photo models - they limped along with embittered steps, through the tenting, the photo-work, through everything the camp moved up onto the upper hill. Time just dragged on. We hope at the latest on the 29th to see the chubby furry faces of our yaks. (David)
