EVEREST SOUTH SIDE 2001 UPDATE MAY 21, 2001
The
team have spent a couple of nights at camp II
waiting for things to fall into place.
Everything seems to be in order. They are
on a tight schedule and hope to reach the summit
in the next three to four days. They are
shooting to be on top by the 24th, but will be
able to delay until the 25th. After that
date they will be running too low on food,
oxygen, and energy to try again, not to mention
that their permit expires on May 30. A couple of
teams are ahead of them. Any successes by these
teams increases the odds that IMG south will
reach the summit. Charlie sends his love
out to friends and family.
Note:
Everyone should start thinking "Go Summit
Team Go!" around the 24th of May.

EVEREST NORTH SIDE 2001 UPDATE MAY 22, 2001
Dave
Hahn, Tap Richards, Andy Politz, and Jason
Tanguay are at Camp 5 now (May 22.)
Several other teams summitted today, including
some French who flew a paraglider off the top. The
Singapore team didn't even make Camp 5 and we sent
the Sherpas up to assist their descent late,
after dark. They are up at ABC now, taking
a rest before walking down to BC. We pulled
Intermediate Camp the other day, so now they
have to do the hike (ABC - BC) in one shot.
