Ivan
Vallejo reached the Summit of Everest this Spring
without the use of oxygen from the South Side of the
mountain on May 23rd around 10:20am (We have not
confirmed the time.) Juan Vallejo reached the Summit
of Everest this Spring without the use of oxygen from
the North Side of the mountain.
Juan Vallejo reached the Summit at around 11.10 am 23rd
May
(Chinese time).
Say
what ? Asked one Spanish reader thinking we had made
an error.
Ivan Vallejo,
who was born in 1959, also reached the Summit of
Everest on May 26, 1999 without oxygen and reached the
Summit of K2 on July 31st, 2000. EverestNews.com
covered him on the K2 last year. Ivan is from Quito,
Ecuador.
Juan
Vallejo is a very famous climber from Lejarreta, Spain
who has also reached the summits of other 8000 meter
peaks including Annapurna I (8091m) from the North Face on
April 29th, 1999. His Spanish name is Juan Vallejo Llanos.
He was born in 1970.
Ivan
Vallejo was also part of the Gary
Pfisterer's International Expedition to Lhotse
this Spring 2001. Ivan Vallejo name is Edgar Ivan Vallejo Ricaurte,
but he is known as Ivan Vallejo to everyone.
Both
of these men are among the world's VERY BEST Climbers
climbing today.
