Christine and I arrived in Pakistan the other day.
We have been buying some food and making last minute
arrangements. We are anxious to get to the
mountains, however, and will fly to Skardu
tomorrow morning.
Henry Todd is also here with us, as well as several
other climbing teams. Besides that, Pakistan
is quiet and calm. The local people have been very
hospitable and friendly, as usual. Last night
we had dinner with Nazir Sabir, the first Pakistani
to climb Everest (on an expedition led by Christine
a few years ago).
Everything is going well and according to plan, so
far. We will be in Skardu for a few days and
hope to send word from there. -Christine and
