Dan
Mazur's Kangchenjunga
Spring 2002
Dispatch#1
March 1st, 2002. In March of 2002, we are
attempting the 7200 meter Mount Nojin Kansa, a
moderate peak near Lhasa Tibet, which has never
had a western ascent. In April-June of 2002, we
are attempting Kangchenjunga, the third highest
peak in the world, located in Eastern Nepal.
We
are in Kathmandu today. The weather is fantastic. We
flew over Everest yesterday. The mountain is looking
very black and rocky. We take that as a good sign,
because that means things are dry up there.
Sometimes it can be very white and snowy. Kathmandu
is quiet and peaceful and beautiful today. Everyone
is very friendly.
