Dan Mazur's Kangchenjunga Spring 2002

Dispatch March 13th, 2002: Jon Otto, Michael Doyle, Pemba, and Pinso awoke early and headed up the ridge for rope fixing. They made it to 6100 meters by 1500pm in the afternoon, fixing rope as they went, then the wind grew too strong. Dimitrius and Antonius went up to 5800 meters. Michael lost his crampon bail. The rest of us rested in camp 1. Dr. Martha Johnson worked hard today, completing her third set of eye examinations of the team. Andrew went down to basecamp. It was windy in camp 1 today, but our tents survived the gail, as they were well-lashed down. Although Michael and Andrew's cooking pot did blow away from their tent vestibule doorway. Brian Mertes tried to hike to camp 1 and turned around at about 5:30 pm, approximately 500 meters below the camp.

Thank you very much. Cheers for now. Yours
Sincerely, Daniel Mazur from http://www.SummitClimb.com
