Dan
Mazur's Kangchenjunga
Spring 2002
Dispatch
March 28th: We packed up our basecamp, and loaded
the truck and a minivan, and drove to Lhasa, over
a very windy road and many mountain passes. We
reached Lhasa in the late afternoon and were
grateful to have a few hot showers and tasty
meals.
Dispatch
March 29th: We toured Lhasa today: The Potala
Palace, Sera Monastery, and the Jokhang Temple. We
accomplished lots of gift shopping, more hot
showers and eating. Several of us enjoyed a visit
to a Tibetan nightclub where we danced the night
away and hung out with a few hundred Tibetans for
our last night's farewell to Lhasa.
Dispatch
March 30th: We went to the airport early and
fought with the airlines company over our 250
kilograms of excess luggage. We were able
to negotiate somewhat, but basically, considered
ourselves stung. The flight to Kathmandu was
impressive and beautiful. We were able to spot a
very snowy Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho
Oyu, Shishapangma, Ama Dablam, Pumori, Dhaulagiri,
Annapurna, and Manaslu. Our agent Murari met us at
the Kathmandu airport.
Dispatch
March 31st: We shopped and prepared for our
Kangchenjunga expedition. Our team has begun
arriving, including Felix Berg, Malte Hagge, Chris
Grasswick, Ivan Vallejo and his friend Julio
Mesias de Aillion.
Thank
you very much. Cheers for now. Yours
Sincerely, Daniel Mazur from http://www.SummitClimb.com
