Mazur's Kangchenjunga
Spring 2002
Dispatch
March 11th, 2002: We
planned to reach camp 1 and sleep there today. We
sent ahead two of our Tibetan climbing colleagues,
Pinso and Pemba. They radioed us when they reached
the camp, and began digging tent platforms into
the unconsolidated scree and ruble at the top of
the ridge at 5600meters. The day grew late, and we
decided not to go to camp 1, because the wind
looked strong on the ridge, which we can see from
basecamp. The Tibetans came down in the evening,
tired, after starting work on four
platforms.
Thank
you very much. Cheers for now. Yours
Sincerely, Daniel Mazur from http://www.SummitClimb.com
