Mountain Experience Everest 2001
Expedition
The
Mountain Experience Everest 2001 expedition will have
3 guides and 6 climbers on the team.
The team, led by Jason
Edwards, will attempt to Summit Everest
from the South Side via the Standard Southeast Ridge
route. The expedition will attempt to put a Canadian
father and son team on the summit of Everest, with the
son being the youngest
Canadian to reach the Summit if successful.
Greetings
from Kathmandu, Nepal!

What
we did today? Jason Edwards calling from
Katmandu, Nepal. All arrived safely and
the advanced team to date includes myself,
Maximo, and Mark Tucker. We have been very
busy the last few days, and we have been
purchasing local supplies for the trip up to Mt.
Everest such as rice, grains, mixes, lumber,
stoves, fuel, tarps, and western food and treats
for the climbers like chocolate and sweet
goodies and snacks.
Today
is the first day we are finally feeling human.
We have been suffering from jet lag. The flight
over was approximately 20 hours so it is pretty
tough when you travel this distance and start
working the next day. It takes a little while to
get to feeling okay. Everyone is feeling
better now. We have several more days of
preparation here at Katmandu.
Thought
for the Day: In Katmandu there are lots of
people from different backgrounds and cultural
heritages. It is important for all of
the Stahl kids to respect people of different
ethnic and cultural backgrounds and not look or
act differently towards others who are not
exactly like them.
Cheers,
Jason
Edwards
