"Hello EverestNews Readers!

EVEREST DISPATCH: Date: April 23, 2001 Time: 7:30 PM Location: BC Temp: 25F

Today was our 4th day of rest after our 3 night foray up to Camp 1 at 20000'. Our trip to C1 went well, although we were hammered with lots of wind and about 2 feet of snow on the second night. During our stay there, we managed to make a small carry of gear to Camp 2 at 21,500'. The third night was more quiet, as the wind died down and the morning was clear, which allowed up to descend to base camp without many problems.

Tomorrow we'll climb from base camp to Camp 2, which will be our longest day yet of around eight hours of climbing.

We'll spend a rest day at C2, and make our way to Camp 3 at 23500' for a couple of acclimatization nights. We'll send back another dispatch upon our return back to base camp. The above photo is from the icefall, and area that we call "Lego Land," which consists of a bunch of broken blocks in the icefall.

That's it for now. Hope all is well in the real world! Cheers, Jason Edwards

Update: 5/1/2001 Camp 4 established

For those following this expedition they also send an earlier dispatch which is here.
