A total of 18,078 tourists visited Nepal by air in April 2002, which included 13,747 visitors from third country and 4,337 from India. April arrival also recorded a decrease by 48.82% over the same period of 2001 representing a loss of 17,247 tourists. This constitutes of 52% decline among third country visitors and 37% decline among Indian visitors.

The main markets to have suffered major decline include USA, UK, Japan and France, which were down by 58%, 60.6%, 34.3% and 52.4% respectively.
