Meet the Team
Mike Hale USA: Along with Stuart Remensnyder Mike heads up the Field Touring high altitude programs world-wide, and lives between homes in Costa Rica and Colorado when not traveling or on expedition. His alpine credits include Makalu, Ama Dablam, Broad Peak, 3 routes on Aconcagua, and a host of US 14,000ers. He is an accomplished white water kayaker and has successfully descended many of the world's most difficult and dangerous rivers. He also enjoys racing blue water cruising yachts across the Atlantic.
Stuart Remensnyder USA: Senior Field Touring guide Stuart Remensndyer began climbing and taking photographs in the mountains in 1988 with NOLS. He has since climbed extensively in the Tetons, Cascades, Andes, Himalayas and Alps during which time he has led expeditions on dozens of peaks between 5000m and 8000m in height. While not expeditioning with his wife Nicole, Stuart keeps busy as an instructor for SOLO Wilderness Medicine. He is a qualified EMT and lives in the bay area of San Francisco.
Keith Molinek: USA, Keith is from Tucson, Arizona, 40 yrs of age and a relative newcomer to big hill climbing. An experienced walker and trekker, he successfully traversed Aconcagua from the False Polish route on Field Touring's February 2003 expedition. This is Keith's first attempt at an 8000 meter peak.
Frederik Muylaert Belgium: Fredeik hails from Brussells in Belgium, and is an accountant by profession. He travels extensively as often as he can, and has climbed Pumori in Nepal as a warm up for his Broad Peak challenge. He has been on the road for the past six months and will head straight to Pakistan for the climb. This will be Frederiks first attempt on one of the planets 14 8000m peak.
  John McBirnie Canada: I've been traveling for the past 14 months, through Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia and in North America. During this time I hiked to the summit of Kilimanjaro and to the hiking summit of Mt. Kenya, this experience egged me on to try some really challenging peaks. I have some climbing experience in California and in Vancouver and this will be my first attempt at a 8K'r. I've been living in Asia for the past few years and have traveled widely for the past 20 years.
Walter Koller: Is a 46 years old viola player with the Munich Symphonie Orchester and his passion are big mountains in the world. He has climbed Kilimanjaro and Mt.Kenya in 03 and specializes in hard technical routes in all 4000 m peaks (except 3) of the alps. This will be Walters first attempt on one of the big 14!
Malte Hagge Australia: Malte is a 42 year old maintenance worker from Sydney, Australia and experienced recreational climber. A former member of Field Touring past trips, he has climbed in New Zealand, Argentina, and Nepal. Alex Txikon, Basque, 21 years of age, born in Leioa, Bizkaia, Basque Country. This will be my first attempt of an 8000m peak.
Paxti Goñi, Basque, 36 years of age. Born in Irunberri, Navarra. His climbing resume includes, Gasherbrun II, Everest With Oxygen, Poveda, Korgenevskaia, Huascaran, Artesonraju.
