Ivan Vallejo adds two 8000 meter Summits! Ivan reached
the summit of Gasherbrum II (8035 mts), Saturday 19th of July 2003. This is

summit of Gasherbrum I (8068 mts), last Saturday 26th of July 2003, at 11H27.
This is his 8th 8000 mts summit!
He Climbed GII with: Edurne Pasaban, Marianne Chapuisant,
Josu Bereziartua, Jose Ramón Agirre "Marron" and Juanito Oiarzabal; And GI
with: Edurne Pasaban, Juanito Oiarzabal and Jose Bereziartua by the way,
Juanito has made his 18th 8000 summit! And it is Edurne Pasaban's 6th 8000
summit!.

Ivan
Vallejo, who was born on December 18th, 1959, reached the Summit of
Everest on May 26, 1999 without oxygen from the north side of the mountain
and reached the Summit of K2 on July 31st, 2000. Ivan Vallejo again
reached the Summit of Everest in spring 2001 without the use of bottled
oxygen from the South Side of the mountain on May 23rd around 10:20am.
EverestNews.com covered him on the K2 as part of Gary Pfisterer
International expedition. Ivan is from Quito, Ecuador. He has also
summited Broad Peak in 1998 and Manaslu in 1997, and Cho Oyu previously.

Vallejo was also part of the
Gary Pfisterer's
International Expedition to Lhotse Spring 2001 and
was part of
Dan Mazur's
Kangchenjunga 2002 expedition.
Ivan
Vallejo name is Edgar Ivan Vallejo Ricaurte, but he is
known as Ivan Vallejo to everyone.
Ivan is the only
climber who has reached the Summit of Everest from both
sides and summit K2 all without the use of bottled
oxygen in a period of 2 years! The only other climbers
to have summited Everest from both side and K2 without
oxygen are named Messner, Boukreev and Viesturs. Ivan
performing this mainly on low budget expeditions....
