Good Friday on Baltoro Glacier

On July 18, 03 shortly before noon, three of us, Radek Jaros, Petr Masek and Martin Minarik hugged each other at the very top of Mt. Broad Peak, 8047m above sea level.

It was almost 10 hours since we left Camp 3 at 7080m. There were many others who left this camp in the middle of the night, but only Kazach Denis Urubko and two other Spanish men made it along with us, the others turned around. We are safely back in Bace Camp now, it is July 20, 03 and the weather is finally good. More coming soon. Martin Written on notebook ASUS comp

Their ascent was without a support of high-altitude porters or bottled oxygen. They plan three days of a rest and then they will return on K2, where they had established camps I,II, and III (7300m) earlier. Radek Jaros's ascent of Broad Peak was in memory of his late father, who died a few weeks ago, when the expedition was already in Karakurum...
