Pakistan - China seasonal border via Karakorum highway will be reopen from Monday for trade and normal traveling.

Earlier, it was scheduled to reopen on May 1, after the winter season. But it was delayed in order to stop the spread of the deadly SARS virus.

The decision to delay the reopening was taken as a preventive measure, necessary medical staff and equipment would be available at the Sust Check Post to prevent possible SARS epidemic.

Pakistan Tourism Development Cooperation's five new motels, situated at the beautiful sites of Phandur, Gupis, Sadpara, Birmoglasht and Mustuj will be operation on July 1, 2003. This was announced by the Secretary Tourism. PTDC Managing Director Maj. Gen. Anis Ahmed Bajwa said that PTDC is undertaking necessary development of infrastructure and services for the promoting of domestic tourism. PTDC is operating two hotel and 33 motels in picturesque valleys of Northern Areas and NWFP. He further said that tourist industry is growing at the rate of 4.5 per cent annually.
