In
Search of Hillary's last camp that made it all
possible!
Paul
F. Giorgio, who reached the Summit of Everest
last year on May 24th as a member of the Jagged
Globe Expedition, returns to Everest this Spring with a full plate of
plans.
Paul
hopes to find the secrets of the high camp that Sir
Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay used when they
reached the summit of Everest on May 29, 1953. The expedition
hopes to find artifacts from the Hillary/ Tenzing's
high camp that made their summit of Everest possible. The tent is expected to be just tatters now, but
cooking equipment and other articles would be expected
to remain in good condition. Paul also hopes to find
the spent oxygen containers used by Sir Edmund Hillary
and Tenzing Norgay ! Paul has hired a number of
Sherpa climbers to assist in this expedition. The
Sherpa climbers will help take the measurements on the
Summit as well as help excavate the high camp.
Andrew Lock,
who has reached the summits of several 8000 meter
peaks, including Everest and K2, is on the way to
Everest to join Paul. Andrew, initially was planning
to go to Kangchenjunga this spring, but when Paul
asked him to join this interesting expedition, he
changed his plans at the last minute.
