At
the threshold of a millennium the Mountaineering Club
in Poznan associated in the Union International Alpin
Association initiated a research program "Zone 7000". It's purpose is to
explore the unknown places on our globe during
mountain explorations and to conduct unique medical
research in their course. The mountain climbers from
Polish Mountain Climbing Associations have undertaken
an extraordinary task of ascending virgin walls and
peaks, blazing new trails, surpassing the limits of
human power and making first winter and Polish
passages. All this will be supervised by experienced
doctors who will medically monitor the expedition. The
area of our interest are mainly the little know
regions of Himalayas and Karakorum lying 5000 meters
above the sea level, up to the peaks of
eight-thousands. In the era of commercialization of
mountains we believe that our program is a wonderful
challenge which will allow to discover the unknown for
those who dream of it but cannot fulfill their dream.
In this year Polish climbers will attempt in alpine
style Mustagh Tower 7284m in Pakistan. Maciej
