Gheorghe (aka George) Dijmarescu Q&A on the Summit Questions

Let's start with the controversy and then talk about You and your climb.

Q.) Did Tortladze Gia reach the Summit of Everest in Spring of 1999 ?

A.) NOT, definitely NOT

Q.) What time did you summit?

A.) May 26, 1999 at 10:45am Nepali time.

Q.) Did you see Gia while you where on the Summit ?

A.) No I did not see Gia while I was on the summit of Mt. Everest

Q.) What time approx. did you leave the Summit?

A.) I left the summit with Apa Sherpa at approximately between 12-12:30pm.

Q.) When you were descending from the Summit at what location and time did you run into Gia ? Was he going up or down?

A.) I met Gia along with other Georgians at the lowest point on the ridge (from that point climbers descent the wall).  The time was approximately between 2:30-3:00pm.  He was sitting down with the other Georgians approximately between 1-1 1/2 hour.  Distance from 8,300m camp (an average climber descending time).

Q.) What did the other climbers say or whether or not he reached the Summit ?

A.) There was no claim about the summit from Gia or the other Georgians [about Gia's summit] , so we basically say: that is OK, next time you will make it.

Regards from Gheorghe Dijmarescu
