Hello EverestNews readers, this is Ray, remember me from Lhotse 2001... I am starting my personal celebration of the "International Year of Mountains 2002"  by climbing in a little known mountain region... It is a branch of Lesser Caucasus Mountains... The goal is to climb new technical rock routes... some alpine climbing too... Actually I will have a whole mountain with "virgin" granite walls, all to myself ...  sorry , I have to stop short of  giving you  the names of the mountains or the locations,  just to make sure nobody gets there ahead of me :-)...

I will be climbing  alone, mostly rope soloing... A couple of fiends will accompany me... A TV show host,  filming a documentary, and a  photojournalist... This is  it for now... no more details... I hope I haven't given away the secret location :-)... Join me in celebrating  IYM 2002 by  following my reports about the climbs... lots of pictures and very little text, I promise :-)... For general information, ...I hope you can find Greater Caucasus on the map :-)...

It is the natural border of Europe and Asia (that's right where Mt. Elbrus,  the highest point of Europe  is...)  Well, Lesser Caucasus Mountains are just South of that... (Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan)...   Got the picture?... good :-)... Dates: May 23 - June 13... Later, Ray Yeritsian.
