Leaving Switzerland on the 29th of August, we reached Lhasa on the 1st September. We chose to reach the Base Camp via Lhasa, visiting the main cultural and religious places of Central Tibet, because this is the best way to acclimatize sufficiently for such a climb. We visited Gyantze and Shigatze and spent a whole day in Tingri to stretch our legs a bit and relax at the nearby hot springs. Next
