Everest
Expeditions Status 4/2/2002

You
might be wondering why some expeditions did not even
send a dispatch before (you assume) leaving for
Everest Base Camp. Or maybe your expedition has not
updated for several days...
The
answer is simple, the Nepal agents and Sherpa
companies got many of the expeditions out of town when
the Maoists announced the strike. Not because they
feared the expeditions would get hurt. But because the
climbers, nor the Sherpa companies wanted the climbers
sitting around Kathmandu waiting for the strike to be
over. Of course, the strike has now been cancelled.
So
the good news is, we expect Expeditions to start arriving
at Everest Base camp today !
There
is rumors of snow ! We will know much more soon.
