Broad
Peak Winter 2003 Expedition
|
| Update 2/10/2003:
Silvio phoned and he
said that they had a clear sky as they start up
the mountain in hopes to set tomorrow Camp II, but
when they arrived to Camp I they found only one
tent. The other one, because of the strong wind of
the last few days has disappeared somewhere on the
mountain. All the alpinists were surprised as they
pitched the tent cut in the ice, like a
fortress so probably the wind up in the mountain
was very strong in the last days.
Unfortunately inside there were most of the
material and all Silvios' personal belongings...
So he's been obliged to come back to BC and not
spend the night over there. He said that on his
way down he saw something similar to a tent that
was not very far away but it was to late in the
afternoon to go check, so he preferred to reach BC
before dark. Tomorrow early in the morning he will
reach Camp I again and on his way up he try to
find all the things he lost in the tent. The rest
of the team in the meanwhile will try to reach the
6400 meters where they finally hope to installed
Camp II.
