Broad
Peak Winter 2003 Expedition
|
| Update 2/13/2003:
Silvio phoned. He said
on the 11th of February at 7 o'clock he left BC
looking for his tent. Fortunately he found it with
all the material inside... However the personal
stuff is still utilizable. He reached all the
other members of the expedition and in the
afternoon they established CII at around 6400
meters. As they do not have enough ropes they
decided to fixed a little part of them only where
they found ice otherwise they proceded carefully
as the slope is almost around 50°. Before they
reached the place where they set CII they found
some loose rocks that were a danger to the climber
below. As the weather was good they made some
film of the progress they've done. They decided to
spend the night over there just to keep more
confidence with the altitude. This morning they
were all fine, they decided to go up, but the bad
weather arrived so they were obliged to come back
to BC. All the climbers are satisfied with the
progress done with only 5 days of clear sky, they
established 2 Camp and reached 6400 meters without
any health problems. Next aim is CIII, hopefully
before the end of this week. It's all depending of
the weather!
