|
| Ed Hommer has been
reportedly killed when he was hit by a falling rock while climbing
Mt, Rainier Monday on Disappointment Cleaver at the around
11,700 feet. You might recall Ed Hommer from his attempt on Everest
in Autumn 2001. Ed was
training for his next attempt on Everest. Ed was a double amputee
and a pilot for American Airlines. He had been climbing for over 20
years. He was 46 years young....
Jim Wickwire was the
team leader on the Mt. Rainier climb.... Ed had climbed Denali 3 years
ago after
losing his legs to frostbite on Denali.

"This isn't about (me),'' Hommer told the Duluth News Tribune in
March. "This is about the capabilities of the human spirit and
what any of us can accomplish.''
