  No visa for South Asians and Chinese


His Majesty's Government of Nepal announced its budget for fiscal year 2003-04 on July 17, 2003. The newly announced budget has given some concession and relief to tourism industry. Announcing  the budget Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani  said that the government has abolished the system of Environment Officer in Upper Mustang, Humla and Vyas region of Darchula for trekkers in  keeping view to encourage trekkers in the areas. Special features of the budget for tourism sectors are as follows:

 1)     An arrangement has been made to waive visa duties for tourist coming from SAARC countries and neighbouring country China.

 2)    Visa fee has been waived to those tourists re-entering the country within one year of 15-day long stay in Nepal. Similarly, visa fees have been waived to those tourists who wish to enter Nepal only for three days or less.
