Dispatch One: During
the 3
times Willie summited Everest, he had to walk from base
camp to
Camp 2 several times--- every time he arrived at Camp 1 he
keep looking to the north face of Nuptse. Wishing he
was there hanging on the buttress. We worked very hard to
be a climber and a full time guide and more for us
that we are climbers by heart. Since we started climbing
almost 17 years ago we almost usually spent all our energy
exploring, hanging or breathing some very cool and
oxygen deprived air up some big peak somewhere in the
world. Our adventures have taken us to almost every
continent.
The
brothers have had
a very busy season, Damian has been almost 6 months out of
the country, climbing in Tibet, Nepal, Spain and
Argentina. Willie has summited Everest for the 3rd time
and that's when we decided that we had to do
something---- A Willie and Damian Adventure!
Organizing a trip like this is
not easy, almost like a job! For this trip we will be 6 climbers, 4 going to
Lhotse, Edurne Pasaban, Jon Goycochea, Ivan Vallejo, Julio Mesias and Willie
and Damian going for the North Buttress of Nuptse.
We all are a good group of
friends and all are good climbers, some of us with several 8000 meter
summits--- the most important thing is that we have awesome food a mix of
Spanish/Basque and Argentinean delicatessen. On top of that we all are here
for the process and try to create another experience of a life time.
As for any trip in Nepal
there is lots of bureaucracy, Damian had to stay in Kathmandu and the rest of the
group departed to Namche on the 30th. He arrived today on one shot from
Kathmandu to Namche but he was not able to eat anything solid for 2 days; he
has a very swollen throat. So we think that he will need to stay in Namche for
few days. If everything goes to plan we will arrive to BC on April 8.
More news from the Patagonian
Brothers soon.
