Adventure
Extreme Everest 2001 Expedition
May
11th Dispatch
Several
days of bad weather have made the North Col
difficult and potentially
dangerous.
Most of our team is now in ABC waiting for the
final push to Camp 3 and the summit. We have
3 members on the col also waiting for a summit
chance. Weather
reports are not too hopeful of an early
clearance,
certainly not before the 16th. Also, due to many
of the team booking return flights to their home
countries earlier than the organizer suggested,
we have had to order the vehicles for the return
trip to Kathmandu for the 26th May, about a week
sooner than we expected. This has added an
additional time constraint that the expedition
could do without and it now seems likely that we
will only be able to make one attempt at the
summit, hopefully around the 17th or 18th May. Meantime
the snow continues to fall.
