K2/Chogori Winter 2003

EverestNews.com, Please, send our regards and best
wishes to Broad Peak Winter Expedition. The
situation is difficult for both expeditions. We are
receiving by e-mail excellent weather forecasts from
Muhammad Hanif, the senior of Pakistan
meteorologist. The last news was very difficult to
us to read. The stormy weather and wet spell with
very short breaks of clear weather is going to be
until the end of February. Since a few days we
are fighting for a base camp which the wind and
blizzard trying to destroy our Karakorum's home.
Nobody is on the North Ridge. It is impossible. We
can hear the sound of the hurricane on the mountains
which are surrounding us. Our expeditions was ready
to the final attempt. Four camps were ready. The
highest on the altitude 7630 meters. Now, we do not
know if there are still on the slopes of K2. The
hurricane could take off or destroy the tents. We
can not see K2. We are in the clouds, fog and
permanent blizzard. All the best Monika Rogozinska
