Bad weather makes it impossible to see Everest.
Last night it
rained hard without pause, the same as all day today.
The monsoon is really revved up, we hope that all this
rain diminishes in the next two weeks.
great amount of clouds everywhere make it impossible
to enjoy a magnificent view of the landscape. If it
wasn't so cloudy, we would already have seen Everest,
Lhotse, Nuptse and many other mountains. I imagine
the impact my expedition fellows will feel when we
have a blue sky, jagged by the biggest mountains of
the world. I remember very well the first sight I had
of Everest, in 1991, in this same season of the year,
in this same place. After so much time, my will to
see it again is a big as the first time.
On our way to
Lobuche, we had a moment of reflection, when we found
a place where there is a memorial for some deceased
climbers on Everest, that today sum more than 150.
