Cho Oyu Autumn 2000

This August/September this team of six international climbers will be attempting to climb Cho Oyu, the sixth highest mountain in the world, without either the aid of supplemental oxygen or sherpas.

The Climbers

Toby Molins: Expedition Leader
 Extensive mountaineering background with trips to Alps, Andes, Alaska and Himalayas. Achievements include: Ama Dablam, Mt McKinley, Mt Kenya, Aconcagua, Bandapunch, Mt Blanc and Matterhorn. Other skills: · Sailed boats across the Atlantic · Filmed/produced three adventure documentaries (winner of Banff Award) Accomplished skier  

James Maclaurin: Climber/Marconi Employee
Avid climber from birth with hundreds of mountaineering ascents to his name throughout the world. An all-rounder with highly accomplished skills in every aspect of the mountains: rock climbing, ice climbing, skiing and mountaineering.  

Chris Patient: Climber/Photographer
 Resident of Zermatt, Switzerland. Climbed for over twenty years throughout the world. Chris has been climbing in the Himalaya since 1986as well as climbing in the Andes, Africa, UK, Alps. Other Skills:  Professional photographer. Studied photography and freelance mountain photographer. Endurance athlete. 50km running mountain marathons. 150km cycle mountain marathons. 15 years climbing and skiing in Zermatt. Photos in Vogue, Esquire. Powder, High and Fall Line. Speaks 5 languages

Mario Perricari: Climber/Extreme Skier
Experienced mountaineer as well as skier. Partnered Chris Patient on most of his climbs. Cafι Manager on Bondai beach Sydney Aus. Lived in Zermatt 1984 -1987. Soundman on Documentary on Manaslu 8120m. Reached 7500m. Many expeditions to the Himalayas including 1998 Ama Dablam. Plus trip to Andes, Alps. Extreme skier: East Face of the Matterhorn and North Face of Lyskam  

Peter Baily: Climber/Marketing Director

 Over 12 years of mountaineering, rock climbing and ice climbing experience: Partnered Toby Molins on Matterhorn, Mt McKinley, Bandapunch and Mt Blanc. Last year climbed Lobuche East, Nepal. Other skills:  Climbed The Nose and Half Dome, Yosemite,  Climbed Towangsan icefall, Soraksan, Korea,  Marathon Runner

Colin Faulds-Smith: Climber/ Teacher
 17 Years climbing experience. Committed Scottish mountaineer with a good list of summer and winter ascents. A Technical climber of at the forefront of his sport. He has also climbed in Europe, USA and Canada. Achievements include: - New Route Development Beinn Vorlich E2-E5 - Dolomites Messner Route North Face Sella Tower, Unicorn, - VIII,8 Stob Coire-Glencoe - Feeding Frenzy VII 7 - Trident Buttress -Ben Nevis - Big Daddy VII,8 Coire an Loichain- Cairngorm
