British Brothers on Everest 2004
Ben Clowes have been sharing adventures together for a lifetime. On the 29th
March 2004 they set off on their biggest adventure yet, aiming to stand
together on the worlds highest peak. They have been preparing for Everest for
over a year, and have been training and approaching sponsors with the aim of
achieving this dream.
Due to the
high cost of permits in Nepal and from a logistics point of view, Tom and Ben
have joined a team led by Dave Pritt who founded Adventure Peaks Ltd. They
will be attempting the North Ridge of Everest from Tibet. The team is now
finalised and they have got to know each other through monthly pre-expedition
meets in Wales, the Lakes and Scotland. This has been invaluable for all
Production Team is joining the expedition. In particular they will be focusing
on British Climber Tony Griffiths. This documentary is an 8 part documentary
series called 'The Challenge' and will be shown in October 2004 on a Sunday
night between 8-9pm (primetime - 3-4 million viewers expected). The film crew
come from the world class cinematographers, High Exposure Limited who were
involved in filming "Touching the Void".
past 3 weeks they have been using a hypoxicator in their London apartment,
breathing low-oxygen air through a mask for 80 minutes a day. This should
speed the acclimatisation process. At weekends they escape the city to train
in the mountains of Snowdonia or the Lake District with heavy packs.
