The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has granted permission to 15 teams for carrying out mountaineering expeditions for 7 different mountains from 7 different countries of the world in the Spring of 2002 (1st March to 31st May). Five Mountaineering teams have been given permission to climb the world highest peak Mt. Everest 8848m.(Sagarmatha). Three mountaineering teams have been given permission to climb Manaslu(8163m.), two mountaineering teams each have been given permission to climb Mt.Dhaulagiri (8167m.) & Mt. Annapurna (8091m.) & one team each have been given permission to climb Mt. Annapurna IV (7525m.) & Mt. Ama Dablam (6812m.). 15 teams are from 7 different countries of which 5 teams are from USA, 3 teams are from India, 2 teams each are from Australia & Spain & one team each are from UK, Norway & Switzerland. NOTE: This is what you will see in the news wires, some guy will probably write that there are only 5 Everest expeditions this year [where do they find these guys...] ! As bikrum says, More Expeditions will be permitted as the season starts in.
