EverestNews.com has not reported a confusing story to you the last few days...

Update at the end...

Why? Well we don't know what is going on...

Here is the confusion...

The Latest: What is happening in Nepal?

Initial reports said they were kidnapped, but then trapped....

Then Stevie, speaking live to radio 5 in London said they were asked for money, like the Makalu teams last spring (Makalu 2002: Armed Maoists demand money from the Makalu teams!) So Stevie, then appeared stuck not wanting to face the rebels on the way down....

The controversial Stevie Haston, who while always claiming to hate the press, talks a lot to the press... After this he might go back to hating the press more...

We would like to it CLEAR, EverestNews.com does not know what is going on with this group. The reports are frankly very confusing. Stay tuned, and let's hope everyone gets down ok....

Below are several of the reports....

Climbers held at gunpoint

Climber Haston safe after Himalayan rescue|

Climbers ask for air lift to avoid highway robbery

Nepal climber held to ransom

Hopes for Safe Return of British Climbers

Britain's 'best ever climber' seized at 16,000ft by rebels

Nepal rebels trap British climber (This BBC story really confuses the picture)

Update Various sources are reporting the climbers are safe after being airlifted out of the area.....

nepalnews is reporting the climbers safe and, " A trekking agent who preferred anonymity said expeditions pay Maoists Rs.4000 per person in the Mount Makalu area and $100 per person in the Simikot area in far west Nepal to buy the goodwill of the rebels. The expedition activity continues uninterrupted after paying the ransom." nepalnews.com br Oct.30

Note: "All the expedition members were safe and in good health."
