Climbers on Mt. Everest Released
As part of Mt. Everest Golden Jubilee Celebrations,
Hon Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation
Mr. Bal Bahadur K.C. released a book entitled
"Nepalese Climbers on Mt. Everest" written by Mr. Ang
Phurba Sherpa and Dr. Ramesh Raj Kunwar on June 10,
2002. Detailed information on Nepalese climbers of Mt.
Everest has been incorporated in the book.
FNCCI & FICCI to Extend Mutual Cooperation in Tourism
His Majesty King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev's
recent state visit to India from June 23-June 28,
2002, has given great boost to the joint efforts in
cooperation and consolidation in trade and tourism
between the two countries.
In the presence of His Majesty King Gyanendra Bir
Bikram Shah Dev, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of
Commerce & Industry (FNCCI) and Federation of Indian
Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) signed a MOU on
June 25, 2002 in New Delhi, on setting task forces for
mutual cooperation in the field of tourism. FICCI and
FNCCI have reached an understanding in giving priority
to Nepal as a tourist destination. FNCCI and FICCI are
also to work together to organize programs and
conferences for developing Nepal as an attractive
tourist destination and to promote package programs
being offered by Nepal.
World Environment Day Celebration
On the occasion of World Environment Day 2002 an
interaction on " Impact of Tourism on Environment "
was held on 5th June at the auditorium of NTB. The
programme was organized by Tourism for Rural Poverty
Alleviation Programme (TRPAP) and promoted by NTB.
Hon'ble Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil
Aviation Bal Bahadur KC inaugurated the program.
Speaking on the occasion Minister KC highlighted the
importance of tourism in national economy. He said
once the tourism takes assenting step the economic
benefit accrued can be distributed to the advantage of
Mr. Shanker Koirala, Joint Secretary MOCTCA stressed
on the importance of nature in Nepalese tourism and
highlighted the various rules formulated for quality
